Conveyor AR
Augmented reality software applications are beginning to have a significant impact on the training and repair industry. By using a camera as the source of the interface, augmented reality represents the next advance in computer interface design. Unlike virtual reality, augmented reality combines dynamic and responsive virtual elements into a user's real world environment, making for software applications with a seamless format to introduce customized instructions and precisely guided training. Apple and Android have recently launched their AR development platforms, named ARKit and ARCore respectively, making it possible for anyone with a smartphone or tablet to access to augmented reality applications.
As a full-service interactive multimedia company with a specific focus on the design and development of augmented reality applications, Augmented RealiTease has responded to the advent of ARKit and ARCore with a set of advanced AR concepts with direct potential for development and implementation. Conveyor AR can be used by the HVAC industry to guide technicians and trainees through the complex process of inspecting and repairing large-scale conveyor equipment in an augmented reality context.
Need
Conveyor repair is a highly useful skill that is required by the supply chain industry worldwide, with demand for conveyor repair expertise anywhere goods are handled. Technicians are trained in conveyor repair technical programs, and Conveyor AR can be used by the training industry to interactively detail the steps required for routine maintenance and troubleshooting, and to offer guided AR instructions for all types of conveyor repair procedures.
Benefit
Conveyor AR will offer a highly efficient method to carry out detailed conveyor repairs, as well as provide a comprehensive training and repair platform for conveyor repair training industry. Conveyor AR will be able to employ the dynamic and immersive properties of augmented reality to achieve expedited repair procedures and accelerated training for the conveyor industry worldwide.
Concept
The basic components of a conveyor system include a bed of rollers with support discs attached to vertical rails, and a train driven axle that drives the roller, with roller chain sprockets and bearings attached to the end of each axle. A motor is mounted within the conveyor frame. A welded chain attaches the assembly together by linking with each sprocket on the roller axles. The chain ends are linked to the motor. Conveyor AR will provide an easy method to scan an existing assembly for product specs, or to guide a trainee in the steps of creating an assembly from scratch. Repair procedures can be detailed with floating text captions that cover the main issues associated with conveyor repairs. Fugitive material can be located, and problems with carry-back, belt misalignment, spillage, and dust can be diagnosed. Conveyor AR can also be used to enforce safety standards, with helpful tips that appear dynamically during belt cleaning and belt tracking checks. By placing detailed step-by-step service instructions in an augmented reality format, Conveyor AR can caption components, call out specific tools for a particular repair, and keep a virtual checklist for technicians to track their progress. Operational graphics such as arrows and vectors provide dynamic instruction in real time.
